Business Manukau, formerly known as Manukau Business Association Inc, is a Business Improvement District (BID) which was established in 2007 to service the needs of business and property owners in Manukau.

Aaron Jones - Chairman


Bank of New Zealand

Aaron stepped into the role of Chairman in 2015, after the resignation of the long-serving Stuart Palmer.  Aaron was well-prepared for the role, having already served for several years as the Treasurer and as a Committee Member.


Until recently Aaron was the Manager of the BNZ’s Manukau retail branch, but has now moved back to his first love, commercial lending.  Aaron is a Senior Commercial Partner based at Highbrook, covering the Manukau area.  He has over 30 years of experience within the banking industry, and greatly enjoys interacting with a wide range of business owners. 


 

Rachel Darlington - Treasurer


Business Like Accountants

Rachel is a Chartered Accountant (CA) and a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. She also holds a current certificate of public practice.  Rachel completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Auckland University and post graduate diploma in Professional Accounting at Manukau Institute of Technology. 


She began her accounting career in the corporate arena and worked for a merchant banking firm for ten years. She joined a CA accounting firm in 1999 and became practice manager. Rachel came to work for chartered accountancy firm ‘Business Like’ in February 2008, and has been helping local Manukau businesses ever since.

Peter Lim


Lim Electronics

Peter is the Director of 100% Lim Electronic and Appliances Ltd, which started in 1973, serving Auckland in both sales and servicing of appliances.  Lim Electronics Ltd are authorised service agents for most major brands including Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Fisher & Paykel, Electrolux, Sharp and more.  They also sell brand new products and carry out installations, including commercial sound systems and visual systems including.  They are 100% Kiwi owned, and have won Consumer People’s Choice Award several years running. Peter has also clocked up 41 years with Rotary Papatoetoe Club.

Emily May


Jaedon Enterprises

Emily May is the Managing Director at Jaedon Enterprises Ltd, a New Zealand based clothing manufacturer, specializing in technical garments, servicing the needs of high-risk industries and emergency response teams. Jaedon is a family owned business that was established 20 years ago by Emily’s father.

Jaedon has an established local and international client base and dominates the market for high-specification industrial apparel, providing innovative design solutions, customer service, and an understanding of local and international compliance requirements. Emily champions New Zealand-made, and local innovation. She is interested in engaging younger generations in manufacturing within NZ, particularly in the apparel sector.

Stephen Grey


Chester Grey Accountants

Stephen Grey is a Director of Chester Grey Chartered Accountants Ltd, having joined Alan Chester in 1976.  He has wide industry experience, and has been advising a large number of successful businesses for over 40 years.  He is a director of many businesses from a range of different industries, including Media Design, Financial Services, Engineering, Broadcasting and Education.  Through his family Trust he co-manages a productive 2200 acre Sheep and Beef farm in the Waikato which was established by his Grandfather 115 years ago.  Stephen has served the community over many years including 24 years as a Local Government Politician in Manukau.

Mark Smith


Briscoes Group NZ Ltd


Mark is the Retail Business Manager for Briscoes Group where he has worked for just over 2 years.  Previously he was with The Warehouse Group running their number one turnover store at $41m per year in the South Island.  He is Chairman of the Board for Slough Town Against Crime (STAC). This was a group of retail companies and local authorities to help fight against crime in the community to support and help homeless street drinkers and drug takers by bringing all the local community units together to communicate as one.  My interest repairing and restoration of European cars and motorbikes, old vespa’s and my jaguar MK7m 1955 project.

Karen Crabb


Rainbow's End 


Karen has recently joined Rainbow’s End as the CEO. She started her career in media and advertising in NZ & London, before joining Lion NZ. During her 16 years with Lion she advanced across several roles, including Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, People & Culture, Strategy and Retail, before settling into general management. Karen is passionate about working with people and businesses to build thriving communities. 

Alan Johnson


Wiri Licensing Trust


Alan is Chairman of the Wiri Licensing Trust which is a major landowner in Manukau. He also works for The Salvation Army as a social policy analyst and is based at the Army's offices in Bakerfield Place, Manukau. A resident of Weymouth, Alan served on the Manukau City Council for 15 years and as a director of the Counties-Manukau District Health Board for three years. He holds degrees in town planning and economics from the University of Auckland and is a trustee on two small social housing providers.

Ilango Krishnamoorthy


Mercury Printz / Iris Signs Ltd


Ilango is the Director of Mercury Printz and Iris Signs. Whilst Mercury Printz focuses on offset and digital printing, Iris Signs offers signage solutions to its clients. Ilango is a Qualified Automobile Engineer from India. He has an MBA Qualification from Waikato University, is very active in the Indian Community, and is one of the founding members of NZ Hindu Temple Society Inc. He is also a trustee for “South Asian Trust Inc.” which provides counselling services to the community through its service arm “Sahaayta Auckland”. He is a keen business man and an active member of voluntary societies, and community and political organisations. Ilango is married to Sakthi, a lawyer at Avondale Law and between them they have three children

Reece Autagavaia - Local Board Representative


Apulu Reece Autagavaia is a lawyer and current sitting elected board member of CMDHB. He attended Papatoetoe North, Kedgley and Auckland Grammar schools. He graduated with a BA/LLB from the University of Auckland. Reece started his legal career at large city law firms, and now works in Manukau.  He currently sits on the Auckland Council Pacific Peoples' Advisory Panel, Tangata o le Moana Auckland Pacific Health Provider Reece has astute analytical and advocacy skills - having represented large corporations such as Telecom and Progressives - skills he is honoured to use to serve the wider community.

Kerry Burridge - General Manager

Kerry was delighted to be appointed to this role in 2014, as it took her back to her roots in Manukau. Kerry is an experienced business owner, professional director, and property investor who greatly enjoys working with other Manukau business and property owners on a daily basis.  

As an economic development specialist who has worked extensively throughout the Pacific, she has particularly strong ties with the nations of Samoa, Tonga, Niue, the Cook Islands and Fiji. Kerry is also the external banking-specialist director for the Bank of the Cook Islands (BCI). When not at work, Kerry is kept equally busy by three teenage children and a demented dog.

A security industry veteran with over 30 years’ experience Anton specialises in business liaison with the council and police, working with Business Manukau since 2009, first as the operations manager at Icon Security and from 2015, as our own crime prevention manager. He brings experience in developing and coordinating business support teams and CPTED projects.

With Anton managing day and night security patrols through the streets, carparks and service lanes of Manukau there’s been a marked decrease in criminal activity, antisocial behaviour and graffiti. Anton, and the team, offer members on-call assistance. With a dedicated crime prevention vehicle equipped with front and rear facing CCTV, plus body cameras, Anton regularly captures events and activities that are of interest to the police.

Tess has over 12 years experience in the NZ Police – retiring as a Police Sergeant in Otahuhu.  She has also worked as a Fraud Investigator for Housing New Zealand.  A move to Australia led Tess to the Security sector where she was Concierge / Security for an apartment building for “formerly homeless and low income people” – Common Ground, South Brisbane.  


Tess manages evening and weekend shifts and enjoys working with the community.  Having a second Crime Prevention Manager has had a positive effect on diminishing the number of call outs for anti-social behaviour such as begging, and the public consumption of alcohol in the area we work in.

Janene is the newest member to our team and she is already putting her administration 'superstar' skills to good use.  Janene brings a wealth of experience working for large corporates through to small membership-based organisations in both NZ and London.

When she isn't working Janene keeps busy looking after her family, which includes her two children, naughty dog, two cats, four sheep and five chickens.
