ADVOCACY: A UNITED VOICE FOR BUSINESS

It can be hard keeping track of bureaucratic goings on, especially when you are busy, working hard running a business. We keep an eye on these issues for you, and make sure that you are regularly informed and updated. 

  • Advocacy and lobbying to central and/or local government to represent the interests of individual businesses or the interests of all members, as required.
  • Liaison with Auckland Transport and Auckland Council to help alleviate parking and traffic congestion issues in Manukau.
  • Informative emails alerting you to relevant actions by Auckland Council, Auckland Transport and Central Government.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: HELPING MANUKAU TO GROW

A vibrant city is one that grows and matures. Business Manukau is committed to enabling that growth through liaison and partnerships with council and local government departments on your behalf.

  • Liaison with Auckland Council and Panuku Development Auckland (a council-controlled organisation) seeking to enhance the Manukau metropolitan area.
  • Support for property owners and real estate agents in terms of filling vacant premises.
  • Liaison with developers, seeking to create new amenities, commercial buildings and apartment blocks.

MARKETING AND PROMOTIONS: GROWING YOUR BUSINESS

The more we focus on building Manukau’s reputation as a destination, shining a spotlight on its many attributes, the more potential there is for your business to grow and prosper.

  • Inclusion of members in the marketing of Manukau central as a shopping and business destination.
  • Provision of an enhanced physical environment, through our work to beautify Manukau (including the removal of rubbish, graffiti and tagging).
  • Joint marketing projects with Rainbows End theme park, and Wero white water rafting (Vodafone Events Centre) aiming to promote Manukau as the playground of South Auckland.
  • Joint marketing with Manukau Institute of Technology, Auckland University of Technology and Private Training Establishment (PTEs), seeking to promote Manukau as the education hub of the South.
  • Design and installation of large entry point signage at the four corners of Manukau, welcoming visitors to our district, subject to obtaining council financial assistance. 
  • Provision of street flags at main intersections to promote Manukau and celebrate annual events.
  • Provision of regular promotional events.

Networking and Events: Together we Grow Stronger

  • Free access to networking events and seminars, designed to help you increase your business knowledge and grow your business network. We also hold regular events with neighbouring BIDS, enabling members to share ideas and information.
