Safer Manukau

Ensuring the safety of the local business district is a key priority for Manukau: Heart of the South. Our aim is to provide a healthy and safe environment for everyone to work, shop, study, play and live in the area.

We can provide the following services:

  • Our Community Liaison Officers. They are the ‘eyes and ears’ of Manukau. They actively engage with businesses and the general public. They report issues such as dumped rubbish, graffiti, broken footpaths and signs, overgrown foliage and other matters requiring council attention. All contributing to a safer and greener Manukau.
  • We operate and manage a network of over 70 CCTV cameras strategically placed in key areas of Manukau to enhance safety and reduce criminal activity.
  • Coffee with a Cop: Join us at these events to enjoy a coffee on us, talk with a member of our police force, or simply connect with your neighbours.
  • Safer Plates: To address the prevalent issue of stolen number plates, we organise Safer Plates events. During these events, we replace standard, easily removed number plate screws with anti-tampering screws at no cost.
  • Advice on crime prevention
  • Provide Conflict Management Training at a significantly discounted rate.
  • Implementation of Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) strategies to reduce criminal activity within the community.
  • Ensuring graffiti and tagging are removed within 24 hours of being reported.
  • Providing regular Crime Alert emails to inform our members about ongoing criminal activities.
  • Collaborating with NZ Police to enhance community safety efforts.
