Welcome to Manukau: Heart of the South!

Over the years, Manukau: Heart of the South has also been recognised as The Manukau Business Association or simply Business Manukau. A registered not-for-profit Incorporated Society, we play a vital role in supporting and representing approximately 1,700 businesses and commercial property owners in the Manukau area.

Our Five Strategic Guidelines

• Advocacy: With 1,700 members, we serve as a unified voice for the Manukau business community, advocating effectively to both local and central government.
• Economic Development: We believe that fostering a healthy environment for businesses, residents, and visitors naturally leads to economic growth. 
• Marketing & Promotion: We work to position Manukau as a thriving and attractive destination. 
• Networking & Events: We create opportunities for businesses to connect with other businesses and potential customers, cultivating meaningful relationships.
• Safer Manukau: Our safety initiatives include operating more than 70 cameras across Manukau, deploying Community Liaison Officers throughout the area to interact with members and the public, and reporting maintenance issues to the council or property owners. 

A Part of Auckland’s Business Improvement Districts

Manukau is one of 51 Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) across the Auckland region. Guided by a constitution that outlines rules and governance, the Association ensures effective management and strategic direction. Annually, members elect an executive board responsible for overseeing Business Manukau and its BID programme , which is funded by a BID-targeted rate grant.
